How to Redact a PDF in Your Browser

  1. Open your PDF — click the file area or drag and drop your PDF onto the page. The document loads entirely in your browser; nothing is uploaded to any server.
  2. Draw redaction boxes — click and drag over any sensitive text, image, or area on the page to draw a solid black rectangle. Navigate between pages and repeat for every page that contains content you want to remove.
  3. Download the redacted PDF — click Download Redacted PDF. Every redacted page is exported as a raster image — no underlying text, metadata, or hidden layers remain in the output file.

All processing happens entirely in your browser. Your PDF is never sent to any server. Because redacted pages are converted to images, there is no way to recover the original content.

Why use a browser-based PDF redactor?

Most PDF redaction tools require you to upload your document to a cloud service. This tool does the opposite — everything runs locally using PDF.js and pdf-lib, so sensitive documents never leave your device. There are no accounts, no subscriptions, and no file-size limits.
